Need some Mommy & Daughter Bonding Time? With no TV, Cell phones, etc. just some good old fashion bonding time. Well, the owner of The Sugar & Spice Ranch has something just for you and her is what she had to say:

1. What is The Sugar & Spice Ranch Camp all about?

At The Sugar & Spice Ranch it's all about "Bonding Mothers & Daughters Through Horses".  We invite moms and daughters to come and live the ranch life for a week.  You each are assigned your very own horses for the time you are with us and you learn what it's like to own a horse.  Through this process you will discover many things about each other and I help along the way to make some connections for the moms & daughters through my horses. It's a psychological process and most of the time you don't even realize you are going through it.  I can watch a mom and her horse or a daughter and her horse and tell you what kind of a relationship the mom and daughter have. My horses tell me quite a bit.

2. Where do you offer this?

We have been offering this program here in TEXAS for the last 7 years yikes, this is our 8th season coming up and now we will be offering a new program in Wyoming.  The Wyoming packages will be a little different and will be offered to everyone not just moms and daughters.  The Texas program is more of an educational program and we offer riding lessons and arena work with some trail riding thrown in.  In Wyoming it is all about "hitting the trails"  I will still be instructing on horse back with my partner, Rock Star but, it will be riding the wide open spaces and truly being out in the wild blue!!!  You will experience another kind of magic at the new facilities!!!

3 Do you offer also this to families that have boys?

We offer family packages throughout the school year in Texas to anyone that would like to experience what we do.  We also offer women only packages and corporate retreats for team building.  Believe it or not we have even done guys only weekends....lots of fun!!  Literally anyone that wants to come and own our ranch and experience what it's like to own a horse ranch can join us.  In Wyoming, we offer the packages to all during the summer.

4. What made you start The Sugar & Spice Ranch?

 I'm a mom myself of 2 amazing young ladies.  My mom and I had an amazing relationship even though I lost her when I was only  12, my memories of her are so strong and so important to who I am today and is what a mom and daughter relationship should be based on.  So, I wanted to create the same environment for my girls as well.  I love horses, they're my life....so are my daughters...bring the two loves together and this is what you get......Magic!!!

5. What kind of testimonials & satisfaction do you and your customers get out of this camp?

My customers walk away with a true sense of accomplishment and a new found respect for one and other.  When a mom watches her daughter control a horse at a canter for the first time it is breath taking.  I can't tell you how many times I have sat on Rock Star next to a mom and heard her with tears in her eyes say, "Leigh, she's doing it, she's doing it"...chokes me up just thinking about it....  And, watching a mom work with a 1200 pound animal for the first time and be gentle but, firm to show who's in charge...kids seeing their moms taking control like that, now that's powerful stuff....Lord there are soooooo many things that go on here that it touches your heart in ways that you just have to experience.


6. Is there something else you would like to add that is important
about you and The Sugar & Spice Ranch?

We are a family run business...more often than not my daughters and I will be at the forefront of the staff you deal with.  We are extremely hands on and although we have other staff we are always present and available to you for anything you need or want to discuss.  We only take up to 8 guests at a time at the Texas ranch and only 10 guests at the Wyoming location.  I never want to out grow what makes us so special....the personal touches that you will experience here will bring you back again and again.  We consider all our guests family and want to welcome you back that way every time!!!
